Navigating the Annual Meeting
The upcoming conference in Montreal provides multiple opportunities for you to learn, develop yourselves, and connect with others in our field. If this is your first visit to the Academy of Management Annual Conference, the event may feel just a little overwhelming. There are so many opportunities to meet other management scholars, and so many interesting presentations and discussion sessions to attend - but attending everything in your area of interest seems simply impossible!
We recognize that it is not always easy to identify the best opportunities within the vast array of events going on throughout the conference - and we're here to help!
Membership Committee Events in Montreal
New Member Orientations - The Academy of Management Membership Committee and AOM Headquarters Staff cordially invite you to attend one of our New Member Orientations! The Orientations will offer the opportunity to learn more about your membership benefits, to learn key tips for navigating your way through the program and the meeting itself. So come join us and get the chance to hear from some key Academy volunteers. There will be refreshments and time for questions at each participative session. There are two orientation sessions being offered, so choose the one that best fits your schedule:
President's Welcome Reception for New and International Members - to be held immediately following the Saturday New Member Orientation from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure in Portage. Fellow Academy members of the Membership Committee, the Board of Governors, and Staff will be on hand to greet and welcome you and other new members. Don't miss this great opportunity to meet, connect and begin networking with your Academy colleagues!
New & International Members’ Hospitality Suite- in Room 524A at the Palais de Congres Convention Center! There will be various Academy committee volunteers as well as representatives from the Membership Department to greet you. Stop by and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and a great way to make new friends! We will be there to greet you from Friday, August 6th through Tuesday, August 10th from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each day!
Division Welcoming Activities - In support of this year’s program theme, Dare To Care, the Academy of Management divisions, interest groups, and committees have organized a series of activities to welcome you to the 2010 Annual Meeting. These activities are great for professional development, learning about the Academy and its divisions, networking, making new friends, and simply having some fun. One of the best ways to start connecting and networking in the Academy of Management is to volunteer, and the Membership Committee is always ready to welcome new volunteers to our group!
